Wooden warships built in colonies.

I've read that both the UK and Spain built major warships in overseas colonies.  Did the other colonial powers of the era (France, Portugal, etc) do so?  I'm asking about wooden, sailing warships...

It was my impression that the French built modest warships in India and the Dutch in the Netherlands East Indies, but I am at a loss for exactly where I read that.

Spain built ships of the line in Cuba. Spain's Santísima Trinidad was built in Havana Cuba.

From what I've read so far Brest, Toulon, and Rochefort were the main shipbuilders for the French, I do see mention of a two-decker 50-gunner (Caribou) that was built in Quebec in 1744.
